The Quelle SourceEnjoy the RidgeBy Randy LoBasso
If you're into fast, keyboard-heavy melodies and guitar riffs ranging from 90s alt-grunge to indie to punk, chances are you'll dig the Quelle Source. This fivesome hails from Philly and has a weird fascination with their street, Ridge Avenue - not that we can hold it against them. We once lived there, too. It's got charm.
Enjoy The Ridge was made independently and has a crisp, professional sound that goes back and forth between an Incesticide-era Nirvana and the reverbed foolhardiness of Deerhoof. At that, we may have heard a little Cold Play packed somewhere in there, too. If we had to give you a standout track, it'd be "Escalation," a quick pop-punk anthem with easy blues riffs that, if it doesn't get a pit going, it should.
