Our first thought on Mongrel Mix is a good one. We can't figure out to whom to compare them. Talking Heads? Billy Bragg? It's hard to say. Our second thought on this Philadelphia mustached foursome (keyboardist Ed Wagner excluded) is a good one, too: They're pretty awesome. At times folksy, then bluesy, jazzy, rocky, tracks 1-10 are oh most enjoyable. This is one of those albums you can listen to all the way through without your friends going, "That first song was pretty cool, but this one, eh..." So, rock your head, sing along, have fun. It's fun.
