Congratulations sees MGMT play up its psychedelic side, with familiar falsetto and high-pitched vocals. The new record isn't as easily digestible as Oracular Spectacular, which saw MGMT go out of its way to imbue its electronic psychedelic sound with pop hooks. Now, they just want to be 2010's Electro Pipers at the Gates of Dawn. It's a noble experiment that doesn't really pan out.
