Fools for RowanTwisted. Tied Up. TangledBy Kate Gamble
Based out of Nashville, Fools for Rowan is a little alt rock band with a lot of bite. The band features a female lead singer, and while it's tough not to compare Fools to bands like Flyleaf, Halestorm or Paramore, they do have something unique to bring to the table.
Vocalist Erin Mullins' growling, rough-around-the-edges vocals hide an occasional hint of Southern twang that reveals where they came from. Her soulful lyrics speak from experience while the band's instruments are more reserved, but let the overall sound do the talking. Make no mistake, they still rock, but rock a little more subtly.
They're not as heavy or in-your-face as some other current rock bands, but they're not trying to be, and because of that their album definitely has some radio play potential. Their third track, "Dead" is actually reminiscent of the HIM-inspired genre of love metal, while their single "Tangled" is more upbeat, mainstream and has a catchy, sing-along vibe.
A look at their website indicates they have already achieved some airtime locally and they have a full schedule ahead with plenty of concert dates leading from summer and into early fall, so catch them if you can.
