Adelitas WayHome School ValedictorianBy Kate Gamble
Home School Valedictorian by Adelitas Way becomes downright irredeemable seconds into the first track, "The Collapse." The collapse of what, you say? Music, probably.
But just when you think it can't get any worst, Home School Valedictorian actually goes on to transcend music to become the most existentially painful half hour of your life. And with songs with titles like "Sick," "Criticize," "Good Enough," and "Hurt," you can be sure that it's a half hour you will never get back.
For those of you not of the MySpace school of English, there is no apostrophe in Adelitas Way. This could be construed as artistic if their music was any good, but since it isn't, it's just sort of irritating. It's not surprising though, that a band given to insipid lyrics like "I need you, you need me/ we make a perfect kind of misery" would have a name to match.
Quick recap: Home School Valedictorian takes the generic, cliched hard rock sound to new levels of suck. Owning a copy makes me wish I had angsty eighth grade friend with a birthday coming up. Move over, Creed.
