It's time to break out the jorts and crank the A/C - summer is upon us. Just as the summer breathes life into the world around us, so too does it breathe life into the bands we know and love.
Artists come out of hibernation with new albums just in time for us to blast their music in the car with the top down. Music fans anxiously check the festival line-ups to see when their favorites are coming to town. All the groups from yesteryear go on tour together. Yep, summer is a great time to be a music fan.
This year is no different. To celebrate our first full month of summer, we at Origivation are pleased to present our latest issue. Gracing our cover this month is Ellie Goulding, the English singer-songwriter who has taken the world by storm. Other artists include classic punk band Bouncing Souls, experimental jazz trio Callers and the soulful Nikka Costa.
And because it wouldn't be summer without music festivals, we are providing an in-depth look at the summer's outdoor music scene. Philly is playing host to a handful of great all-day shows this summer, including two Philadelphia institutions - the Philadelphia Folk Festival, which is celebrating its 50th year anniversary, and the XPoNential Music Festival.
